2018-
Precarious Practices is a platform formed by twelve individuals from Helsinki dance and performance scene. The aim of the group is to meet regularly, share artistic ideas and practices, support each other in freelance life, stay active as well as to bring different aspects of artistic work visible for audiences.
Precarious Practices was initiated by Tuuli Vahtola and Jan Nyberg in spring 2018. Since then the group has continued collaborating and developing their concept. Until today they have had two different focuses: to share an artistic practice with the group and to develop and sustain movement/performance practices together. Since 2019 the group has been organizing public and participatory meetings open to audiences.
Working group: Elias Girod, Taru Koski, Ella-Noora Koikkalainen, Sanni Kriikku, Sonja-Riitta Laine, Pie Kär, Jan Nybeg, Anne Rönkkö, Tuuli Vahtola, Vanessa Virta and Soile Voima.
“As we work in the field of performance through artistic processes and practices (rather than with a singular performance project) we see that our work suggests something sustainable, persistent and resilient: clearly articulating artistic agency that is able to activate its surroundigs in manifold ways through the artistic practices.”
